Queensland Representative School Sport Referee Mentoring Program

Queensland Representative School Sport and Queensland Touch Football are proud to introduce the Referee Mentoring Program to support and provide professional development to aspiring foundation level referees at Queensland Representative School Sport (QRRS).

Referee mentoring is an effective way for referees to learn and develop under the supervision and guidance of an experienced referee. The mentor and mentee work together through all areas before, during and after a game which provides a safe environment for junior referees to develop and ask questions without the worry of being assessed.

PURPOSE OF THE PROGRAM

  • To support junior referees by providing referee mentors to help them feel more comfortable and confident whilst continuing to increase referee development.

PROGRAM BENEFITS – MENTEE (REFEREE):

  • Opportunity for junior referees to work with an experienced referee mentor
  • Feeling of being supported through the process of their refereeing
  • Increased confidence and motivation
  • Guidance, tips and constructive feedback on game management and areas for improvement.
  • Mentors will be present for warm up, games and post-game support.
  • Support of competition recovery protocols, nutrition & hydration guidelines.
