Queensland Touch Football’s Strategic Plan identifies ‘Performance Pathways’ as a key pillar of the ‘Unite, Inspire, Grow’ Strategy and is prioritising the independent review of its Talent Pathway and all associated structures and activities. The primary objective is to establish a sustainable framework that enhances and promotes opportunities for all within the performance and talent pathways.
For years Queensland Touch Football (QTF) and its Talent Pathway delivery partners have excelled in identifying and developing talented players, coaches and referees state-wide, delivering winning performances at benchmark events, regional, state and national, culminating in representing the maroon of Queensland in the bi-annual State of Origin series.
Given the many changes impacting QTF Talent Pathway at both state and national levels, now is an opportune time for a comprehensive and impartial review of all associated structures and activities to ensure sustained success in the years ahead.
“Queensland Touch Football Talent Pathways must be fit for future purpose, clear and unambiguous and provide a fair and equal opportunity for players, coaches and referees from across Queensland to access quality experiences, competitions and events. The Board is united in our desire to rejuvenate the Queensland Touch Football Talent Pathway to ensure all Touch Football participants, young and old, can reach their potential”, said QTF Chairman, Mathew Gilbertson.
McLaughlin Sports Consultancy has been engaged to undertake the independent review of the QTF Talent Pathway, and will be supported by a skilled Review Reference Group, and input from stakeholders across Queensland vis Forums, Surveys and Interviews.
The Review Reference Group, led by former QTF Chairman Troy Morgan, comprises representatives from talent pathway stakeholders state-wide, including:
- Troy Morgan (Player, Coach and former QTF Chairman)
- Dave Zanette (Representative Player and QTF Board Director)
- Jason Boyd (Elite Coach/ Qld Representative School Sport, Touch Football Chair)
- Kim Sue See (Elite Player)
- Bree-Ann Lo Grande (Pathway Referee/ Coach)
- Charlie Griffiths (QTF Events/Competitions Manager)
- Katie Gieger (QTF Game Development/Pathways Manager)
- Scott Prince (Elite Player/NRLW Coach, QTF Brand Ambassador)
The primary objectives of the Review include:
- Assess transparency and fairness of criteria for player, coach, and referee progression.
- Identify barriers faced in the pathway, including access to quality competitions and events.
- Review support mechanisms within daily performance environments.
- Provide recommendations for improving talent recruitment, development and organisational effectiveness.
Who can get involved?
Communication and engagement with key stakeholders, including touch football administrators, coaches, players, referees, talent directors, senior leadership, employees, affiliates and regions, is crucial for a comprehensive review. QTF will offer opportunities for community involvement through e-surveys, interviews and focus groups from February to April.
We understand the importance of this Review and we look forward to our community having a high level of engagement as we build a strong culture where we present a fair process and provide opportunities to our players, coaches and referees.
