It was a jam-packed 3-day event at this year’s QLD Touch Football’s 2019 Junior State Cup. Over 224 teams consisting of more than 3,200 players, referees, coaches and managers took part in the event.
We would like to thank our sponsors for their support of the event, Fraser Coast Regional Council, Optus, Inferno, fisiocrem, Steeden, All Sports Travel, DSA Images, Coles, Visit Fraser Coast and the Hervey Bay Touch Association for their continued assistance with the event.
The chill out zone powered by Optus was a great hit this year, it allowed spectators to relax and watch the livestream coverage from a beanbag on the Optus big screen. Players and parents were well looked after by fisiocrem and their on-site physiotherapists. There were approximately 18 food vendors in Vendor City with plenty of food options to choose from. Once again, the Junior State Cup merchandise was popular with spectators lining up outside the Inferno tent ready to purchase.
We’re the top state in Australia for juniors and youth in touch football and throughout the event we saw why. On the field there was some exceptional touch footy played which showcased promising up-and-coming players. Congratulations to Bradley Russell who was awarded the prestigious Scott Notely Award and Taylah Connell who received the Kerry Norman Award.
Footy wasn’t all that occurred on the field. On day 2 of the event on field 20, two of our referees Matt Butler and Danielle Nunn got engaged post-match. The pair met at Junior State Cup four years earlier on that very field.
A huge thank you to all affiliates, teams, players, coaches, referees and volunteers your contribution to this event does not go unnoticed.
Congratulations to all winners and players of the final.
