At the Queensland Touch Football (QTF) Annual General Meeting late last year, the Membership resolved to confer Life Membership on David Field for distinguished special service to Queensland Touch Football, recognising a 30-year contribution to the sport. David joins a small but distinguished group of Life Members, becoming the 11th Life Member of the Association, and the first Life Member recognised since 2010.
Dave began his refereeing career in 1993. He first gained national recognition at the 1999 National Touch League (NTL), earning the prestigious Level 5 badge, followed by an advancement to the Level 6 badge in 2000. He also refereed at state level at three State of Origin series, and 19 international tournaments between 2004 and 2007.
In 2004, Dave assumed the role of QTF Referee Director, a position he currently holds. His involvement in prestigious events such as the World Cup, Trans-Tasman and State of Origin led to his appointment to the National Referee Panel in 2006 and later to the Federation of International Touch (FIT) Referee Panel.
Additionally, to his national contributions, Dave plays a vital role at state events by appointing referees and enhancing the standard of officiating in Queensland.
In 2023, Dave’s 30-year dedication was celebrated with a service award at the NTL and the prestigious Volunteer of the Year title at the Queensland Touch Football Awards.
QTF CEO, Greg Denny, said, “Dave’s impact on touch football is profound and lasting, earning him deep respect among his peers.
“Congratulations to Dave on an exceptional career so far, a true embodiment of dedication and love for touch football,” said Denny.
