The Junior Emerging Talent Squad (JETS) was established in January 2007 to provide a pathway for youth referees, our stars of the future. This program is for referees that display the potential to progress to the elite level and will underpin referee participation at youth events at a local, state and national level.

The JETS program is an initiative of Queensland Touch Football and the Queensland Referee Management Team, who saw the need to identify young referees that demonstrate the ability to become one of Queensland’s best referees.

The key objective of the JETS program is to provide a structured pathway for young referees to achieve their goals with the help of coaching and support from other referees, coaches, players and mentors. The program provides the opportunity for junior referees to participate at Queensland’s Youth Academy Camp held in February annually.

With the advent of JETS members being selected as the best Level 2 and 3 referees under 18 in the state of Queensland, QTF has the following added expectation on these members.  JETS Referees will:

  1. Be a positive role model
  2. Wear their JETS off-field uniform with pride at touch football events and activities
  3. Promote the refereeing of touch football
  4. Support fellow youth referees in their respective region
  5. Officiate at region and state events, inclusive of Region All Schools and Junior State Cup
  6. Officiate at one or both QRSS events annually, supporting 10-12 Years and/or 13-15 & 16-18 Years (combined) events.

Unite. Inspire. Grow.
