Queensland Touch Football (QTF) is proud to announce it has successfully attained an Activate Queensland Grant through the Super Round grant ActiveKIT, an initiative from Queensland Sport & Recreation.
This grant allows QTF to develop a Women in Touch – Mums and Bubs program that builds upon the preexisting Women in Touch program. It aims to attract new participants, providing a low-cost inclusive program which increases opportunities for women to be physically active in a social, friendly and non-competitive setting. The Women In Touch – Mums and Bubs program aims to connect with mothers and their children within local communities.
In deciding to pursue this initiative, QTF undertook research of mothers within & outside the Touch Football community. Unearthing an opportunity to connect the game of Touch Football with a relevant market segment. Specifically, QTF found:
- 68% of those surveyed classified themselves as either “only somewhat active or not active”.
- 82% indicated that lack of child minding is their major barrier to being active.
- 100% indicated they would be interested in sessions which provided exercise for both them and their toddler/bub.
- 100% indicated they would be interested in a Mum and Bubs program and would like to find out more
On the findings, Manager, Commercial, Events & Strategy, Rachael Stacey states “QTF conducted market research within & outside the Touch Football community to understand how we can help Mums get more active. What we found was an opportunity to showcase how inclusive, active and fun touch football is, while ensuring we provide a safe & supportive environment.”
Stacey continued; “We know the touch football community is inclusive, diverse and welcoming so it is the perfect opportunity to engage new mums and children”
To deliver the program, Queensland Touch Football is now on the lookout for an enthusiastic, passionate, and engaged coordinator to help drive this new initiative forward & to lead the overall Women in Touch program throughout Queensland.
