Queensland Touch Football (QTF) is delighted to be working with North Queensland Touch Association (NQTA), under a new Management Agreement between the organisations that seeks to Unite, Inspire and Grow touch football across the North Queensland Region.

Formed in 1978 with ten affiliates, North Queensland Touch Association currently has over 21 affiliates and over 1,000 teams. These participation levels make touch football one of the top participation sports in North Queensland.

NQ Operations Manager Adyn Anderson said, We are delighted to be partnering with QTF and using their expertise to provide greater outcomes for our region and affiliates. Greg and the QTF team have a fantastic level of passion, forward thinking and knowledge which will positively benefit the NQ region, we look forward to collaborating with QTF in this partnership.

Under the partnership, both parties will work together to ensure the ongoing development and growth of the sport in the North Queensland region, which spreads as far south as Glenden, includes Mount Isa in the west and covers as far north as Thursday Island.

As well as organising representative events & tours for both senior and junior members, the partnership will a continue to promote touch football amongst key stakeholders and partners, as well as continuing to work together to improve the development of players, coaches, and referees.

QTF CEO Greg Denny said, We are looking forward to supporting the NQ Board, Staff and Affiliates across the region to deliver great outcomes for touch football in North Queensland”

NQ will join Brisbane Touch Football (BTF) and South Queensland & Border Districts Touch Football (SQBD), under the partnership with QTF, where QTF will manage back of house functions allowing the NQ team to focus on supporting Affiliates and volunteers with administration and governance to enhance the participant experience.

This partnership builds on North Queensland’s great showing in the 2024 Junior State Cup, where North Queensland had teams from over five affiliates to compete across the three-day event. Of note are the Cairns Pirates 18 boys who made their debut at Junior State Cup this year after several years playing together and the Mackay 16 boys who went through the event undefeated.
