Queensland Touch Football is proud to announce it was one of seven successful organisations to receive funding for this years ‘Women Leaders in Sport’ grant, provided by the Australian Sports Commission.
Women Leaders in Sport (WLIS) is an Australian Government initiative managed by the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) in partnership with the Office for Women with more than 26,000 women and over 800 organisations benefiting from the program since it started 20 years ago.
Queensland Touch Football (QTF) was successful in achieving funding for its ‘Women Leaders in Touch Football’ initiative, a program providing women from across the state the opportunity to advance their leadership capabilities.
The 5-week program will commence in May 2023 and includes a face-to-face workshop and four (4) online sessions, led by facilitator Sue Cormack, Consultant in Leadership, Strategy & Organisational Development.
Covering topics such as leading self, working in and with teams and courage in leadership, the program aims to encourage, support and enable females in leadership roles across the sport of Touch Football.
Queensland Touch Football CEO, Greg Denny thanked and recognised the support of the Australian Sports Commission and the vision to drive equal opportunity in sport. “We have a large percentage of female participation within the Touch Football community and as an organisation, we are focused on developing female representation in leadership roles across the sport. We hope this program will not only provide opportunities for women to develop their leadership capabilities but also serve as role models and create a supportive environment for the next generation of women.” Said Denny.
In addition to this program, the ASC grant will fund further accreditation opportunities for a select group of coaches and referees from QTF’s six (6) member regions as part of the Women Leaders in Touch Football Framework. These candidates will be supported and recognised as leaders in their fields, empowering them to inspire young females in their respective regions.
QTF encourages female applicants from within their local affiliate, regional or state body to apply. Applications are open and will close 24 February 2023.
Female coaches and referees looking to further their coach and referee pathways should contact their regional office and / or complete the online expression of interest form.
