Implementing the National Child Safe Standards and Universal Principle is about more than meeting legal requirements. It is about creating touch football environments where children and young people are safe, respected, valued and heard.

For affiliated associations, compliance with child safe requirements is an important responsibility. However, building a child safe organisation requires more than having policies in place. It involves intentional action, ongoing reflection and a commitment to continuous improvement across all areas of your association.

By embedding the Standards into everyday operations, associations can strengthen safety, improve participant experiences and build a positive culture where everyone can thrive.

Your Responsibilities

Affiliated associations have legal and ethical responsibilities to provide safe environments for children and young people. This includes implementing practices that align with the National Child Safe Standards and the Universal Principle, and understanding any obligations under the Queensland Reportable Conduct Scheme.

Taking a proactive approach helps prevent harm, respond appropriately when concerns arise, and demonstrates your commitment to child safety.
