The Queensland Touch Football Q Youth Academy returned to the Gold Coast last weekend, with 200 of the state’s most talented athletes, coaches and referees selected for the three day intensive touch football training camp.
With support from City of Gold Coast, the camp was hosted at the Gold Coast Performance Centre in Runaway Bay from 9-11 February, and saw athletes from all over Queensland combine to represent a NRL Touch Premiership permit teams, either the Cowboys, Broncos or Titans.
Designed for athletes aged 12-17, the performance-focused opportunity for emerging talent presents a clear pathway to representative opportunities in both Touch Football and the NRL and NRLW programs.
The Q Youth Academy is delighted to once again partner with The Fit Lab to enhance the skills and knowledge of the next generation of touch football stars.
Queensland Touch Football CEO Greg Denny is excited to bring together the state’s most promising talent on the Gold Coast.
“We are thrilled to have returned to the Gold Coast for the Q Youth Academy presented by Fit Lab, Queensland Touch Football’s pinnacle development program,” said Denny.
“Talented players, coaches and referees from across Queensland were identified for this opportunity which saw those involved take part in a range of activities specifically designed to set them up for future success in the sport.
“Across the weekend, we had guest appearances from many of our legendary Queensland players, coaches and referees to provide guidance and support of our next generation of talent.
“An established development program, the Q Youth Academy brings together the best U14 and U16 talent our sport has to offer, and we are excited to follow their development over the course of the weekend and beyond,” he finished.
