From major school championships and inclusion programs to community activations and exciting opportunities on the horizon, August was another huge month for Touch Football across Queensland.
Thousands of players, coaches, referees, volunteers and supporters came together at events statewide, showcasing the strength of our community and the continued growth of the game from grassroots participation through to representative pathways.
Queensland Special Education Championships
The Queensland Special Education Championships (QSEC) returned to South East Queensland this August.
Students from across the state came together to experience the fun, friendship and inclusivity that Touch Football provides, with schools travelling significant distances to be part of the event, including Rosella Park School, who made the 500km journey from Gladstone.
Featuring social, recreational and competitive divisions, the championships provided opportunities for students of all abilities to participate, connect and enjoy the game in a welcoming environment.

Brisbane Secondary All Schools Delivers Three Days of Action
Somerfields, Rocklea played host to another successful Brisbane Secondary All Schools Championships, with teams from across Brisbane and South East Queensland competing over three action-packed days.
The event welcomed:
- 36 schools
- 132 teams
- 382 games played
- 3,285 tries scored
A special highlight was the attendance of an international team from Hong Kong/China, adding a unique element to the competition.
The championships continue to play an important role in the school sport pathway, with many participants now turning their attention towards the upcoming Gold Coast Titans All Schools Championships.
North Queensland Schools Shine in Townsville
Greenwood Park in Townsville welcomed schools from across the region for the North Queensland All Schools Championships.
The event brought together:
- 23 schools
- 50 teams
- 661 players
- 66 coaches
- 52 referees
- 174 games
- 1,483 tries scored
One of the most memorable moments came in the Junior Mixed competition, where William Ross defeated Good Counsel 2-1 after a dramatic seven-minute drop-off.
The championships once again highlighted the passion, talent and growth of school Touch Football throughout North Queensland.
Sunshine Coast Schools Come Together
The Sunshine Coast Secondary All Schools Championships delivered a fantastic showcase of Touch Football, with more than 1,000 players taking the field across a full day of competition.
The event featured:
- 23 schools
- 74 teams
- 178 games played
- 74 hours of Touch Football
- 57 referees
Beyond the results, the day was a celebration of participation, connection and community, made possible by the players, coaches, referees and volunteers who continue to support school Touch Football across the region.
South Queensland All Schools Highlights Dedication Across the Workforce
The South Queensland All Schools Championships once again showcased the scale of school Touch Football participation across the state.
Primary Championships
- 66 teams
- 160 games played
- 66.67 hours of Touch Football
Secondary Championships
- 126 teams
- 316 games played
- 131.67 hours of Touch Football
Behind the scenes, QTF staff worked tirelessly to ensure the events ran smoothly, including managing a late-night redraw after wet weather impacted competition following Day One.
Their commitment ensured thousands of participants were still able to enjoy a memorable championship experience.
The QTF Roadshow Hits the Road
The 2026 QTF Roadshow officially kicked off in August, with the Game Development team travelling across Queensland to deliver clinics, school programs and community activations.
The Roadshow aims to introduce new participants to the game while creating opportunities for existing players to stay involved and continue developing their skills.
With more community visits and school holiday clinics still to come, the Roadshow will continue connecting Queenslanders with Touch Football throughout the months ahead.
