Wednesday 18 March
Following Scott Morrison’s COVID-19 national update this morning and in line with Sport Australia’s advice and Touch Football Australia (TFA), Queensland Touch Football’s (QTF) current position, is to keep community Touch Football competitions (of under 500 people) all around the state open.
Currently, the advice from Sport Australia on community sport is that “exercise and participation in sport remains an important part of physical and mental health for everyone. For those who are well, they should continue to be active by engaging in exercise and playing sport.”
TFA and other National Sporting Organisations have a teleconference scheduled with the Federal Minister for Youth and Sport and a medical expert from the Health Department today (Wednesday 18th March 2020) to discuss the ever-evolving COVID-19 crisis. Should the advice from this meeting require a change in our position of continuing to provide access to competitions QTF will urgently communicate those changes and advise accordingly.
QTF will of course continue to monitor the situation and take advice from TFA, Sport Australia and other relevant government departments and medical experts, and we will provide regular updates.
In order to assist in monitoring the situation, TFA has implemented a Reporting Protocol in the last 24 hours for those in our community that are being tested for COVID-19 or diagnosed with the virus. If you have participated in a Touch Football competition within 14 days immediately prior to being tested for COVID-19, or if you have been diagnosed with the virus, email email@example.com to let TFA know. When required, TFA collaboratively with QTF will inform relevant parties immediately so information can be distributed to those who need it.
To reduce the risk of infection, we encourage the touch community to implement additional hygiene measures as recommended by the government. Click here.
QTF will frequently monitor the situation and provide regular updates as they come to hand. Further QTF event-specific information will be provided in the coming days.
We are here to support you during this challenging time, if you have any immediate queries or concerns please contact the QTF office via firstname.lastname@example.org.
